Singer-songwriter Father John Misty just released the official music video for his song “The Night Josh Tillman Came To Our Apartment.”
Father John Misty’s real name is Joshua Tillman, which makes the title of the song rather intriguing. The track is a charming folk song that isn’t quite a ballad, but has some melancholy lyrics and isn’t an upbeat tune. Of course, Tillman stars in the video himself, but not just as one character. The music video begins with Tillman in a bar, where he meets…himself. The two seem to hit it off and go back to his apartment, where they have fun doing drugs and swimming together. As the pair spends more time together, things heat up and they end up making out. The visual has such an odd and unique concept that fans have to see how it concludes for themselves. The track is from Father John Misty’s latest album, February’s I Love You, Honeybear. In June, he also released music video for the title track of that album, which depicts a tragic story based around a couple of drunk EMTs who are on call. Though his new video definitely has some sad undertones, the two visuals evoke very different emotions overall.
In addition, Father John Misty covered “Heart Shaped Box” by Nirvana from their 1993 In Utero album. He also joined Florence + The Machine onstage for an acoustic set during their 2015 Coachella performance in April.
