Nine days shy of their newest album release, New Order have shared a new song “Plastic.”
The song, which almost hits the 7-minute mark, was mixed by Richard X who had previously worked with the band on “Bizarre Love Triangle,” and is the latest to be premiered online following the first single “Restless.” The song puts more focus on electronic elements and feels as if they had decided to turn back thirty years to release music with their synth-pop contemporaries such as Pet Shop Boys and Depeche Mode.
New Order announced their new album Music Complete ago for a September 25th release. This will be the first album for the band since their 2013 compilation Lost Sirens, and the first new material in over decade. A European tour supporting the album was also announced and begins in mid-October. As previously reported by mxdwn, for this album, the band consists of Bernard Sumner, Stephen Morris, Tom Chapman and Phil Cunningham, and the return of Gillian Gilbert to the group.
