Speaking of Jack White’s other cool-band, The Dead Weather killed-it on the Late Show with Stephen Colbert last night, causing electric-sparks to ignite kinetic-frenzy, provoking their first live-gig in five-long-years. Following an initial return to form, Jack-and-the-gang jumped right into trashy-blues overdrive with their first new cut, “I Feel Love(Every Million Miles), ” from their forthcoming release, Dodge and Burn due out September 25 via Third Man Records.
Proving he can be a genuine “Jack of all trades” (no pun intended), Jack White’s The Dead Weather pummels through their latest single, “I Feel Love(Every Million Miles)” with an assured sense of artistry. Vocally-driven by The Kills’, Alison Mosshart, donning her black-&-white skunk-mop, Dean Fertita (Queens of the Stone Age) crunching through thick-bluesy guitar-riffs, and Mr. White, himself plowing through the clings-&-clangs of symbols amidst rickety-snares and punchy-bass drums, the band shares with the world what they won’t be seeing much, as no foreseeable tour is on the horizon.
While cleverly clad in purple-and-grey lighting, the performance marked a high point for what started out as a manic Monday for Jack White. Earlier that day, the long-standing feud between White and The Black Keys reached record lengths as Keys drummer, Patrick Carney tweeted accusations against White. Carney claims White allegedly attempted to fight him in a New York bar a few nights previous. White later responded to Carney with a twitter comment: “Quit whining to the Internet and speak face to face like a human being.”
By noon, the two blues-innovators reportedly reconciled their differences through an hour-long phone-call of epic proportions. “From one musician to another, you have my respect, Patrick Carney, ” tweeted White’s Third Man Records, resolving the heated issue at hand.
