Mark Kozelek, the mastermind behind Sun Kil Moon, has cancelled his scheduled set at the upcoming Ottawa CityFolk Festival due to a feud with festival organizers, according to Stereogum.
This is the second feud between Kozelek and another party that has originated in or around the city of Ottawa. Last year, Kozelek was known for his feud with indie rock band The War on Drugs, which originated at Ottawa Folk Fest.
Now, Kozelek has posted on the Sun Kil Moon touring page that he has cancelled his upcoming performance due to “unorganized promoters.”
He also shared links to negative posts regarding various Ottawa festivals organized by Mark Monahan, the same organizer who is in charge of CityFolk. Linked posts include stories about noise violations and collapsing stages.
Monahan stated the situation was simply blown out of proportion with incorrect assumptions and reactions on Kozelek’s part. When Kozelek apparently tried to reconcile his place on the CityFolk lineup, Monahan refused, thus causing him to post the aforementioned harsh links.
Kozelek has yet to report his full side of the story.
