The Paper Kites, straight out of Melbourne, Australia, are headed our way this December for a show at Philly’s favorite neighborhood spot, Milkboy. Tickets are on sale now for the December 4th event that will feature support from opening act, Old Man Canyon.
The Paper Kites joined forces back in 2010, a collaboration that was a long time in the making. The five members are all close friends, with Sam Bentley and Christina Lacy having began writing and playing music together while they were in high school. In 2010, they added Sam Rasmussen, David Powys, and Josh Bentley and the rest is history. It was their track, “Bloom,” that finally began attracting widespread attention and popularity. They released two EPs, one in 2011 and one in 2012, and then 2 albums, in 2013 and twelvefour in August of this year.
twelvefour is a concept album which was written between the hours of, you guessed, midnight and 4:00 AM. In addition to the album, they also released a film of the same name which chronicles the band’s creation of their concept record. You can catch them this December when they head to Philly for their Milkboy appearance.
