Vanessa Carlton Announces Fall 2015 Tour Dates

Vanessa Carlton is announcing her upcoming tour in support of her much-anticipated NEW studio album, Liberman which comes out on October 23 in North America via Dine Alone Records.

A lot of significant life events have happened to Carlton since her last album. She moved from New York to Nashville, married Deer Tick vocalist John McCauley and gave birth to a baby girl. All these new experiences have molded how the ten songs on the new album were conceptualized. The song, “Willows” boasts of Carlton’s masterful piano work and her signature vocal prowess. A dose of mild orchestration augments the composition and gives it an atmosphere of Irish folk music without it trying to sound like Irish folk music. The sentimental lyrics that bring the listener into her new world and presents a new side to the songwriter that has not been heard before.

The album’s title, which is Carlton’s grandfather’s given name also happened to be a colorful oil painting done by him. She describes, “The swirly colors of that painting reminded me of the music and the music reminds me of those colors. Then I looked up what Liberman means and it’s ‘honorable man’ and ‘my beloved’ – all these things that just felt right to me. It’s a strong family name that, in a weird way, describes the music to me.”

The deluxe version of Liberman will be released with a complete collection of the Live Living Room Sessions which was part of her Blue Pool EP that was released last July. A vinyl edition of the album will be released at the end of November.
