Queens Of The Stone Age’s Troy Van Leeuwen And Serrina Sim Release New Sweethead Album Mortal Panic For Free Download

Alternative band Sweethead is the side project of Queen’s of the Stone Age guitarist Troy Van Leeuwen. Today, the band have released a free download of their 6-song EP, Mortal Panic, in preparation for their sophomore album that’s due to be released in early 2016.

Mortal Panic was produced by Van Leeuwen himself and features unreleased songs from the band, including a single off of the upcoming album, and covers of songs by the Kinks and Love and Rockets. Sweethead contributed to a Love and Rockets tribute album back in 2009, New Tales To Tell: A Tribute To Love and Rockets.

Inspired by a David Bowie song, Sweethead formed in 2008 by Van Leeuwen. A year later their self-titled debut was released. The band have toured with the likes of Them Crooked Vultures, Eagles of Death Metal and Snow Patrol. The group went on hiatus after frontwoman Serrina Sims was involved in a serious motorcycle accident.

The band will be playing on select dates of Van Leeuwen’s tour. Van Leeuwen will also be re-joining Failure on their fall tour.
