Motion City Soundtrack released a video for their song “It’s A Pleasure To Meet You.” The song is from the band’s new album, Panic Stations, which comes out this September.
The video is available on the Nerdist website. The video starts out with the band playing as video game heroes that must rescue something precious to them. But while the song is about heroism and the attempts at saving someone or something, most of the songs that are found on the track list have much to do with the ocean and its many themes: isolation, emptiness, lost, nothing, vast, and exploration. So while the song may be a journey and an attempt at being courageous over one thing, it is mostly about the discovery and adventure of going places and having to do with the range of travel that one could do in an ocean.
Panic Stations was influenced by the buoys that could alert danger and warnings for sea goers. The idea of letting go and not being paralyzed by thoughts is one way of understanding the concept of their new album and this music video. You can pre-order Panic Stations on CD or vinyl from iTunes, or the band’s website. Currently, Motion City Soundtrack is co-headlining a tour with The Wonder Years; State Champs and You Blew It! this fall and the tickets are already on sale.
