Since the release of the first official documentary about Nirvana‘s late singer, Kurt Cobain: Montage of Heck, there has been multiple never-before-heard demos that have risen from the ’90s trio. Among them is “E-Coli” which clocks in at 9 minutes, and according to the note accompanying the stream, it’s thought to be from either 1993 or 1994.
The song is only one of many Nirvana demos that have been posted online in recent months. An early version of “Sappy” leaked online earlier this year while a recording alleged to be a demo tape by Cobain’s early band Fecal Matter. His pre-Nirvana group formed in 1985, with drummer Greg Hokanson and future Melvins drummer Dale Crover on bass.
The soundtrack from the Kurt Cobain film is set to be released in November. The currently untitled LP is being labeled as a Cobain “solo album” and will feature unheard music from the Nirvana frontman. Director Brett Morgen reportedly sifted through the endless Cobain archives for home recordings and other rare tracks. It has been reported that the release will include other unheard material. Morgen described the music ranging “from thrash to ragtime and everything in between.” It will also include “a sketch comedy routine.” Morgen commented on the soundtrack as a whole saying, “You really get a sense of how happy he was simply by creating himself. His lyrics are really playful, and, at times, you can feel his smile and warmth coming through.”
