Karen O, the 35-year-old Yeah Yeah Yeahs frontwoman did an interview with Pitchfork following her debut album and what inspired her to write the music and the album. The song “Singalong” is mirage of grainy clips of New York City strangers walking the streets, surfing their cell phones, sitting on park benches and kissing dogs. The song is a reminder of the time passing by and the wonderful moments where something so simple, is the most beautiful moment that can be nourished. Although the album Crush Songs, is a reflection of her short time as a 27-year-old woman who was often crushing a lot. Even though the singles and other songs on the tracklisting are considered private for the musician, the single “Singalong” sounds more like a private time enjoying the surroundings that are filmed throughout the video, or watching the private lives of other New Yorkers.

However, in April, the singer teamed with bandmate Nick Zinner to perform Lou Reed’s “Vicious,” honoring the late Velvet Underground frontman, who was posthumously inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. The musician has alreay released videos for her albums other singles, “Ooo” and “Day Go By.”
