Canadian duo Death From Above 1979 have released a new music video for the track “White Is Red” from their sophomore album, The Physical World.
The rock band formed in 2001 and released their debut LP You’re A Woman, I’m A Machine, in 2004. They split up in 2006 then reunited in 2011. Their long-awaited second album was released in fall 2014. In spring 2015, Death From Above 1979 joined the co-headlining Incubus and Deftones tour as a special guest.
They announced their own summer 2015 tour dates, including a stop at Jack White’s Third Man Records in Nashville. That show was later announced to be a recording of live album that would go directly-to-acetate. Unfortunately, the Third Man Records live show and recording was included in the first four dates of the United States leg of the tour, which the duo had to cancel due to visa and immigration issues. They will, however, be performing at Corona Capital in Mexico City in November 2015, joining artists such as Calvin Harris, Sleater-Kinney and Fatboy Slim.
“White Is Red” is the second music video for a track from The Physical World, the first being a video for “Virgins.” The official video for “White Is Red” contains footage from the documentary Life After Death From Above 1979, film about what the band did between the first album release in 2004 and the second release in 2014, according to Stereogum. There are shots of live shows, relaxing with friends and pets, photo shoots and some backstage footage. The song is mid-tempo and not as loud as other Death From Above 1979 jams, but a fitting background audio to all that is shown in the video. Watch the new visual below.
