Electro pop duo YACHT, consisting of Jona Bechtolt and Claire L. Evan, is releasing their full length album I Thought The Future Would Be Cooler this October!
YACHT released a track, “Works Like Magic”, last September. However since then the EP has graduated to full length album, which means more material, new styles and surely something to surprise their audience. According to Consequence of Sound, in order to promote their new album YACHT dropped album teasers using drone videos, billboards, and 300 prints of the artwork. They’re definitely working to promote it, as they have a lot to live up to from their last successful album release: Shangri-La.
I Thought The Future Would Be Cooler is set for release on October 16th. YACHT has already released the track with the same name “I Thought The Future Would Be Cooler” as a single. “I Thought The Future Would Be Cooler” allows YACHT to take their usage of electro elements to the next level. This song is all about the future, and it sure sounds like it. From futuristic sounding rhythms to almost alien melodies, you can’t help but think the song accurately depicts the direction electro pop could be taking. It’s a unique style for a track, and it’s definitely being taken positively. As artists branch out and try new sounds and styles, their audiences admire their ability to pursue these new elements and incorporating them. Artists are always changing, and this song “I Thought The Future Would Be Cooler” is not only catchy and dance-worthy, but very out of this world.
This track shares the name of YACHT’s new album, and it does an incredible job of showcasing the style and new material we may see on the album come October. We’re psyched to see the direction YACHT takes with their new material, and this album is sure to be an interesting release.
