Bizarre but brilliant. Mac Sabbath, a parody heavy metal tribute band, performed at the 2015 Outside Lands Festival’s GastroMagic stage on August 9 for their second year. Born in Los Angeles in 2014, Mac Sabbath is a parody cover band that faithfully performs Black Sabbath’s songs with a talented line up that includes vocalist Ronald Osbourne, guitarist Slayer McCheese, bassist Grimalice, and drummer Catburglar.
The heavy metal band’s repertoire is rewritten to feature lyrics and imagery focused on fast food. Their parodies include “Pair-a-Buns” (“Paranoid”), “Frying Pan” (“Iron Man”), “Sweet Beef” (“Sweet Leaf”) and “Never Say Diet” (“Never Say Die”). For bonus points, fans can purchase T-shirts that read “We Sold Our Soul for Cinnamon Rolls”, mirroring We Sold Our Soul for Rock ‘n’ Roll.
