Smashing Pumpkins and Marylin Manson have been making great success in their summer tour. At gig in Nashville, the budding friendship added another layer to the friendship between Manson and lead singer Corgan, dressed in a nun’s costume, joined the satanic preacher costumed Manson during “Antichrist Superstar,” which suddenly became a cover of Cyndi Lauper’s “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun.” The phrase “girls” was subbed out for “nuns.”
Sadly now that the tour has ended, fans will still keep bit of the tour on their phones and YouTube pages as many fans have uploaded the video of the duo singing “Nuns Just Wanna Have Fun.” Billy Corgan mentioned at June press conference that he and Manson planned to cover the Cyndi Lauper pop classic, but fans in Nashville were surprised that it would happen there. The duo performed a portion of the song together, seamlessly blending “Girls Just Want to Have Fun” into the tail end of “Antichrist.” It was an unforgettable night for fans as well as Corgan and Manson.
