Amanda Palmer took to Pateron today and announced that she is working on a new album with her father, Jack Palmer. “The Amanda & Jack Thing is a big collection of all cover songs, painstakingly hand-selected by both of us over the course of the last few years,” said Amanda. In her post Amanda mentions that she caught Lyme Disease and that it has been a while since she has worked on anything. “I didn’t want to announce this project until i actually had a moment to sit down and write and reflect,” said Palmer.
Working on the project included her camping out in a converted-church recording studio in upstate New York for a couple of days. She has waited five years to work on this record with her dad. Her father went on stage with her to cover a to cover a Leonard Cohen song in Washington D.C. “My dad has been a musician all his life,” said Amanda, “He’s too legit to quit.” Her father has been playing guitar, singing and performing for most of his life and for her, it is a great honor and privilege to work with her dad side by side.
Fans of Amanda Palmer can help the musician release the new album with some ideas and ways to get it on the market. But Palmer will talk more in detail about what she plans on making the album available through cds, downloads, or even on vinyl in some stores that still carry the classic disk. Palmer is also expecting a child while producing the new album and could not further express her happiness with working by her father. The cover songs on the new album will be out soon, possibly in three days after making the songs come to life with the magic of family.
