Adult Swim Singles has released their tenth installment of the program today, “The Mystery of Lonnie the Døn” by Shabazz Palaces.
Known for their experimental sound, Seattle hip-hop group Shabazz Palaces received accolades for their 2014 LP Lese Majesty. The duo also released brand new hit track, “Ham Sandwich,” and a music video for their song “Forerunner Foray.”
Now finished with their recent world tour, members Ishmael Butler and Tendai Maraire have given us “The Mystery of Lonnie the Døn” – two minutes and 50 seconds full of wonderfully spooky, enchanting sounds.
The track contains what could closely be described as rhythmic chanting. Between the eerie instrumentals created by Maraire and Butler’s hypnotizing vocal effects, the track lives up to its title, truly giving off the feeling of mystery.
