Iconic British psychedelic-pop legends, The Zombies are back with a new album. It’s called, Still Got That Hunger, and this newest Zombies project is set to be released on October 9th, 2015, via The End Records/ADA in digital and physical formats.
The Zombies’ Still Got That Hunger was produced by Chris Potter, who is best known for his work with The Verve on their album Urban Hymns, along with his production work on The Rolling Stones’ 1989 release, Steel Wheels.
“We’re really excited to be signing our new album to The End Records – it somehow seems fitting that it should be released on a Brooklyn based label, as our very first American concerts way back in 1964 took place at The Brooklyn Fox Theatre!,” the band’s co-founder and keyboardist Rod Argent said in a press release.
And, speaking of American concerts, the British psychedelic-pop rockers are hitting the road on the 30th of September for a North American tour that celebrates their 1968 recording, Odessey & Oracle.
These concerts will find all four original and surviving members of the classic The Zombies lineup recreating their seminal release in its entirety. Argent will reunite with vocalist Colin Blunstone, and they will be joined by the band’s original bassist and co-songwriter, Chris White, and drummer Hugh Grundy. This is the band’s first North American tour in five decades with their original lineup, according to a press release.
Additionally, these shows will feature the acclaimed – and current – lineup of The Zombies. As of 2015, the band is comprised of bassist Jim Rodford, who formerly worked The Kinks; Rodford’s son, drummer Steve Rodford; and, respected session guitarist Tom Toomey. The present incarnation of The Zombies will be performing material from their upcoming studio album.
The Zombies – over the past three years – have enjoyed a major career resurgence. To date, according to a press release, the band has embarked on two tours in the United Kingdom, and five tours in the States.
In the U.K., the band has returned to play sets at the Great Escape Festival and Glastonbury. And, their American tours have included stops at Austin City Limits and the SXSW festival, along with Central Park’s SummerStage in New York City. The Zombies released Breathe Out, Breathe In – their fifth studio effort – in America, during 2011. And, the band went on to announce and celebrate that they were nominated for induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame for the first time.
