According to Loudwire, a conspiracy theorist is suing the city of Seattle because he wants the courts to release photos from Kurt Cobain’s death scene. The theorist, Richard Lee believes the release of these photos will help prove that Cobain was not killed by a self-inflicted gunshot in 1994.
Loudwire notes that images of Cobain’s body have never been released to the public. Cobain’s wife, Courtney Love, and their daughter, Francis Bean Cobain, are among those who want to keep the photos private.
Richard Lee’s involvement in this case comes from his background in public-access. He hosts/reports for an investigative show titled Now See it Person to Person: Kurt Cobain Was Murdered. Lee published his official declaration to release the photos and according to Alternative Nation, he sites examples such as immediate release of photos of John F. Kennedy and Marilyn Monroe after their deaths. Below is an excerpt from Lee’s official declaration:
“On April 13, 1994, I aired a program entitled Was Kurt Cobain Murdered? only 5 days after the body of this famous musician was found at his Seattle home. Since that time I have aired over 600 unique editions of this series, focusing on the Cobain homicide and closely related subjects of local police and politics. It is fair to say that I am the world’s leading expert on Cobain’s death, and to my knowledge my program is likely the longest running public affairs television program in Seattle history.”
Additionally, the announcement of the release of a documentary on Kurt Cobain’s – Montage of Heck, has stirred up some controversy. Courtney Love has filed cease and desist against theaters showing the documentary and Buzz Osborne of the Melvins claims the documentary is false. The film is said to contain unreleased music recorded by Cobain before his death.
