Ought released a new song today “Men for Miles.” The band has released “Beautiful Blue Sky” earlier this week. Both singles come from the album, Sun Coming Down, which comes out September of this year. The band has released the tour dates for their album which will start later this September after the album has been released.
The song is a muddy escalation of rhythm and chords that sound like there is no time to mess around because something big is going to happen. It’s a song of urgency aimed at the post-punk rattlers inciting that they should bring down the house and drive like hell on wheels. It’s like the song displays the last resort of the punk-rock genre that burned down to a small ember flame after it was a raging bonfire. Some of the songs lyrics include “There were men for miles, there were men for miles, and does it just bring a tear to your eye, a tear to your eye, a tear to your eye.” But of course the interesting part of the song makes it sound like it was all just a daydream when the singer, Tim Darcy says ” “Excuse me, do you think there’s a chance to bring this whole fucker down?”
