LISTEN: New Order Release New Song “Restless”

New Order’s new single “Restless” comes from their new album Music Complete. Although “Singularity” and “Unlearn This Hatred,” were both produced by Tom Rowlands. “Superheated” features additional production by Stuart Price. The album was mixed by Craig Silvey, except “Plastic,” which was mixed by Richard X. Brandon Flowers provides vocals on “Superheated,” Iggy Pop features on “Stray Dog” and Elly Jackson (La Roux) features on “Tutti Frutti” and “People On The High Line” and backing vocals on “Plastic.” Strings on the album, performed by the Manchester Camerata, are arranged by Joe Duddell.

Music Complete is avialable for pre-order on their website. The band also done performance at the Tibet House U.S. Benefit Concert this year at New York City’s Carnegie Hall on March of this year. The Tibet House Benefit Concert was founded in 1987 by the Dalai Lama. The concert was established because Tibet wants to raise awareness of the situation where Tibet has under cultural and religious oppression of Chinese government. Yuck covered one of New Order’s “Age of Consent.” The cover can be found on Yuck’s second album.

In 2013 some master tapes and studio outtakes surfaced featuring artists from the late 70s and 80s: Joy Division and New Order. The boxes of tapes discovered contained fascinating note: they had been saved from being thrown away completely, making them an even more valuable commodity of the music world. Julia Adamson’s musical credentials include sound engineering at Strawberry Studios, a length of time as a record executive and a brief member of the Fall. Her connection to this particular collection stems from her time as a P.A. to Martin Hannett, producer for Joy Division and New Order. Martin Hannett was the influential producer of the band and it was where some of the old tapes were located in his old dustbin.
