On the night of Thursday, July 23, actor and founding member of rock duo Tenacious D Jack Black got onstage at a Boy George show in Los Angeles and the two performed a cover duet of “Starman” by David Bowie.
Boy George, lead vocalist of ’80s New Wave band Culture Club, was performing at Los Angeles’ Greek Theatre with the band on Thursday. It was the first time that the singer and the full band had played together in Los Angeles in decades, according to the New York Daily News.
The last song to be played was the cover of Bowie’s 1972 hit “Starman.” Black jumped onstage as a surprise guest to sing it with Boy George, taking the already-exciting performance up a notch. Between Boy George’s elaborate fashion and Black’s energetic stage presence, this is a video you don’t want to miss. Watch them sing with passion in the three and a half minute video below.
Jack Black and Tenacious D, his band with Kyle Gass, have been having a busy year so far. Tenacious D won Grammy for Best Metal Performance of 2015 at the beginning of the year. They will be performing as part of the lineup for Riot Fest Denver 2015 in August and they have announced the lineup for their own Festival Supreme 2015, which will take place in Los Angeles in October.
