MTV has decided to jazz things up a bit for the VMA’s…by completely disregarding time and nominating two music videos that were both released over a year ago.
“Why’d You Only Call Me When You’re High” by the Arctic Monkeys, released in 2013, for “Best Rock Video,” running against Fall Out Boy, Hozier and the like, and Vance Joy’s single “Riptide” that was released last year, in the “Artist to Watch” category are the two outdated nominations in running slots.
Vance Joy has since released three other singles, including a video for “Mess Is Mine” that was also released last year, but supersedes “Riptide” by three months.
There could’ve been a clerical error in voting system for the August 30th award ceremony. Or, a very resentful Arctic Monkey’s fan hoping they will win, two years late. However, there has been no comment from the channel that was once known for providing constant music news for the masses but has since recently turned to a reality show forum.
Guess we’ll have to wait for the speech either artist gives if won.
