Telegraph.co.uk recently released a video of AC/DC drummer Phil Rudd lashing out at an awaiting cameraman in front of his beachfront property in New Zealand.
On Saturday, July 18, 2015 Rudd was arrested for breaching the conditions of his home-detention. He appeared in Tauranga District Court on Monday, July 20th and was charged with possessing and consuming alcohol. Fortunately, the 61-year-old artist was released on bail. On August 3rd Rudd will return to court to answer his most recent charge. He faces up to one year in jail and a fine of 2,000 New Zealand dollars. The drummer will also be subject to random drug testing for the rest of his detention.
This is not Rudd’s first run in with the law. In April, after his fall arrest, Rudd pleaded guilty to charges of threatening to kill contractor and his young daughter and drug possession. The musician faced up to 7 years behind bars but, even after his lawyer quit, was sentenced to only 8 months of detention and monitoring, along with some time in rehab.
In an affidavit to the court, Rudd’s son stated that his father “has a heart of gold and wouldn’t hurt a fly. Its just when the drugs take over, he behaves how he taught me not to.”
