Atreyu recently came out of a self-imposed dormancy recently by releasing a new song and announcing that they were working on a new album, “Long Live”. You can check out the new video (directed by Atreyu’s bassist, Porter McKnight) for the title song below.

According to some of the band’s members, Long Live (Set to be released September 18th) is their best album yet. Bassist Porter McKnight said “The album Long Live (and the title track!) is without a doubt the best music we’ve ever written and I can’t wait to share it with everyone.” while Alex Varkatzas, Atreyu’s frontman agreed, saying “‘Long Live’ is by far my favorite ATREYU video, which is fitting because our new record, titled Long Live, is the strongest ATREYU record to date”

The video for “Long Live” is strong in itself, featuring a well written plotline in which hooded figures dressed from head to toe in black robes emerge from a body of water, dragging coffins behind them. The hooded figures approach the band members separately, seemingly planning to murder them with various methods from hanging to burning alive. In their final moments, their captors remove their shrouds and free the bandmembers of their bindings, allowing them to then finish themselves off.

In April mxdwn covered South By So What?! festival’s day 3, in which Atreyu played.

mxdwn also covered the 2014 release of Atreyu’s “So Others May live”
