Wilco have just dropped an unexpected, brand-new album this afternoon. Star Wars is available for a free download on the band’s official website right here.
The cat-themed artwork welcomes fans on the official website. To download the album, fans can enter their email addresses into the box at the bottom of the page. The album contains 11 tracks, which you can see in the tracklisting below.

The members of Wilco were recently in the news for performing “Pink Flag” with Wire in Chicago last month. Most of their recent work has been through live appearances, including upcoming gigs at the Toronto Urban Roots festival and gig at the Greek Theatre. One of their recent live performances almost never happened. The band was set to perform in Indiana this May, but they backed out due to the state’s Religious Freedom Restoration Act. After the state amended the act, Wilco reinstated the show, to the relief of many Indiana fans.
Today’s release suggests Wilco have been hard at work on more than just live performances this year.
