Ellen Allien – High

Keep The Masses Dancing

Ellen Allien, also known as the mastermind behind Berlin’s BPitch Control, has been a prominent pioneer in heavy techno and house music for almost two decades. This influential record company has been behind some of the most interesting, original and experimental music in the electronic genre, and has done so for well over fifteen years. From electroclash to deep house, Ellen Allien has had her hands in it. Released on June 29, her most recent, personal addition to her lineup of impressive releases is High.

High is an EP which consists of only two very long tracks and it is the German producer’s first release of the year. Both of the cuts feature deep house beats that speed along like high-speed trains; trains that move with all the rattling and clanking of horse-drawn carriages.

“High,” the first track on the EP, is a mashup of hypnotizing, deep techno that climaxes to elevated vocals and a deep, deep house that infiltrates the bones. Simply put: this first track makes you want to move. The second song on the album is”Lou,” and it is similar to the first. However, it is not just more of the exact same thing. The soundscape and beats are alike, yes, but it is well worth a listen. “Lou” soars to new heights and takes the listener with it.

As always, Ellen Allien has produced quality material that will keep the masses dancing. Expect to hear High scattered throughout your summer — to Ibiza and beyond.
