Xylo released their song “Between the Devil and The Deep Blue Sea” in June 2015. “Between the Devil and The Deep Blue Sea” is a dreamy, laid back and calm song, with a narrative like lyrics and soft instrumentals. Recently “Become” released a remix of the song, upping the beats per minute and utterly transforming the song into an entirely new beast.

The remix adds almost reggae like drum and bass lines to the original, preserving the original narrative but transforming the song into a much more intense experience. The remix is interesting to listen to due to the fact that the original vocals are left almost untouched in tone, volume, and as far as effects go, leaving the vocals in stark contrast to the background instrumentals, which feature bass build-ups and drops, effectively transforming a chill, easy listening song into a hybrid Dance/Chill song, something that is surprisingly enjoyable.
