Finally, after almost two years, the teasing has come to an end. The Dead Weather has announced the release of their new album Dodge & Burn to drop in September of 2015. This will be their first album in 5 years, succeeding their 2010 Sea of Cowards.
The Dead Weather is an American super group made up of Alison Mosshart (The Kills), Jack White, Dean Fertita (Queens of the Stone Age) and Jack Lawrence (The Greenhornes). The band takes any free moments, which are few and far between for these rock stars, to meet in Nashville and record.
Dodge & Burn will include “Open Up (That’s Enough)”, “Rough Detective”,”Buzzkill(er)“, and “Its Just Too Bad” along with eight brand new songs. Fans with a Vault subscription will also receive a redesigned copy of the record “I Feel Love (Every Million Miles)” bundled with “Cop and Go”, a limited edition poster, a copy of Dodge & Burn on yellow vinyl, and a deck of novelty playing cards featuring the band as the King, Queen, Jack and Joker (Vault Package #25).
In October of 2013, The Dead Weather and Third Man Records pioneered a wildly unique way to release their newest material. Over the past year and a half The Dead Weather has released their singles through a series of 7” records available solely via The Vault, or “Third Man’s one-of-a-kind subscription mail-order service.”
This membership includes access to exclusive news, photos, music, videos, chat rooms including live chats with Jack White and Third Man employees, live streaming of certain special events, opportunities to take advantage of ticket pre-sales, a quarterly vault package (a 12” record, a 7” record, and a bonus item), and access to the Vault Novelties shop.
Unfortunately the dream-team band will not be touring behind their newest album drop. The press release notes that drummer (yes drummer) White, singer Mosshart, guitarist Fertita, and bassist Lawrence are all deeply involved in other projects and just cant pull together the time for a tour.
