Bullet For My Valentine are taking on heavy domestic issues in their newest video for “You Want A Battle? (Here’s A War).” With a commentary on domestic violence and family abuse, the video brings us back to the hard rock and controversial social commentaries that pushed Bullet For My Valentine into the forefront of hard rock.
Bullet For My Valentine have not been known to shy away from controversial social issues, both addressing and commenting on said issues with the usual hard-rocking that made Bullet For My Valentine infamous. Shortly after releasing the single for “You Want A Battle? (Here’s A War),” Bullet For My Valentine have produced a video for the track. The video is a brutal examination into one of the darker elements to domestic American life: the potential for (and reality of) abuse and violence in the home. The video focuses on a mother and daughter as they are physically tortured by the man they live with before both mother and daughter take the matter into their own hands.
The video opens with the daughter receiving drugs of some sort from a street dealer. It would appear that the girl has some sort of personal demons, and that said demons have driven her down a dark path, yet, as the video progresses, we see that her situation has driven her down a dark path, but not the way we may have initially expected. While the music is a furious firestorm of hard rock, peppered with anger, the video doesn’t shy away from the dark realities that underline the Norman Rockwell lifestyle that still perpetuates in American society to this day.
The single is alleged to be a small piece off of an album that will be released this August. The new album will follow on the heels of the disappointing announcement that bassist Jay James left the group.
