Passion Pit Announce Fall 2015 Tour Dates

Almost exactly three years to the day after the release of the studio album that skyrocketed their acclaim, Gossamer, Passion Pit have released tour dates for their 2015 tour following the release of their highly anticipated third studio album Kindred.

Massachusetts born Michael Angelakos and his travelling band of synth-pop collaborators are set to take the stage starting in early July in Chicago. Fan presale tickets go on sale tomorrow, June 22, at noon local time. General sale tickets will be released this Friday, June 26, also at noon local time.

Kindred is a portrayal of Angelakos coming to terms with his bipolar disorder with a collection of stories he’s picked up over the last few years. Back in 2009 after a show at Austin’s SXSW Music Festival, Angelakos realized he had a problem. He was admitted into a hospital in Houston for the length of five weeks. Songs “Ten Feet Tall” and “Five Foot Ten” off of Kindred, in Angelakos’ words from an interview with Billboard, were about, “finally accepting the fact that I have these flaws. I wish it was a natural ego, like, ‘I’m owning this.'”

After finally coming out with the news of his disease and his decision to stop hiding it from the world, Angelakos did many interviews regarding his struggles. In one interview in particular, he admitted that he’s doing better in large part due to his wife, who he dedicated the first song off of the new album, “Lifted Up,” to.

‘Lifted Up’ is a song about my wife just coming to me at a point in my life where I really was pretty lost. I was pretty dark. She’s been one of the most amazing people, as a friend, as a partner in life.

With the juxtaposed sad lyrics partnered with upbeat music, Passion Pit has built a melancholy yet upbeat twist, building a huge following over the past six years with hits “Take A Walk” and “Sleepyhead.” New hits “Until We Can’t” and “Lifted Up” carry on the oh-so familiar Passion Pit sound fans expect when they listen to the band and see them live.

Angelakos admitted that this album felt like a continuation of the last two albums. The maturity of the sound and subject matter on this album was all a part of Angelakos’ journey.

“It felt like this was the record you could hear the maturing side of the character I’ve been trying to push around and figure out,” Angelakos said.

The tour dates for their 2015 tour stretch from July to October, making stops at various festivals and events along the way. The tour dates as well as links to buy tickets are listed below.
