British company The Association of Independent Music has decided not to support the companies music streaming service, due to the complications of their free three-month trial, which will give zero royalties to music holders.
The music streaming application has been through various implications in the past month. According to DIY Magazine, Apple Music are having difficulties getting any form of endorsement from independent music labels.
“The speed at which Apple has introduced their plans and its lack of consultation with the independent music sector over deal terms (despite what [Apple Music overseer] Jimmy Iovine might claim) has left us with the uneasy feeling that independents are being railroaded into an agreement that could have serious short-term consequences for our members’ interests,” said Alison Wenham, a CEO at AIM.
Other indie labels, such as Beggars group, hold the same revolting manner against Apple. A statement from the label reads, “We struggle to see why rights owners and artists should bear this aspect of Apple’s customer acquisition costs.”
The service was also under fire when attempting to divert music labels away from other services such as Spotify, prior to the services initial announcement.
Apple Music is set to be released on June 30th.
