After releasing their self-titled collaborative album in May, Philadelphia-based duo RJD2 and STS are back with new single, “High Life,” which premiered on Okayplayer.
This new single has a dream-like atmosphere, and while the verses allow STS to rap about beautiful women, penthouses, and having the ability to fly first class on an airplane, the song’s chorus sees him setting up his goal. He raps, “I want the high life/I feel as though I know where I am headed but this is my life.” Being goal oriented, even if that goal is to have the type of success that STS is seeking, isn’t a bad thing. And, by the song’s last notes, listeners may even wish that they could join RJD2 and STS in their quest for the high life, and all of it’s perks that are spelled out in the song.
Unfortunately, this catchy track has yet to find its place within any of the duo’s upcoming albums, but it will certainly keep fans interested, and might motivate them to follow a few of their own dreams during the hot summer months.

And, what is it like for RJD2 and STS to work together to create their unique sound and put together their most recent album?
Well, in an interview with Complex, the duo discussed their creative process, the RJD2 x STS album, and what it has been like working together to create a sound that has set them apart in the hip-hop genre.
“You take the rap style, the way that I rap, you put me on a beat and I could just go all day ’cause I can rap. That’s what Philly is and that’s what rappers in Philly do: They rap,” STS explained. “There was no thinking: This is the best work to date that I have ever done! As soon as we started doing the music, I was like, yeah, this is it… Basically, yes this is the best joint ever. I’m smiling ear-to-ear. This is crazy. It’s a work of art. That’s what it is, a great work of art.”
