Johnny Cash’s Man In Black: Live In Denmark Now Available To Stream On Qello

Man in Black: Live in Denmark, a 1971 Johnny Cash concert, is now streaming on Qello.

The full performance is about an hour long and originally aired on Danish TV in 1971. Cash was accompanied by backing band the Tennessee Three and by June Carter Cash, The Carter Family and The Statler Brothers during several songs that were part of the show. Among the hits that Cash and his collaborators played are “Me and Bobby McGee,” “Folsom Prison Blues,” “Boy Named Sue,” “I Walk the Line” and the title song. The Danish performance took place during the peak of the singer-songwriter’s career, which began in 1954. The title of the concert is iconic, as Johnny Cash’s image was as The Man in Black, and he wrote the song to explain his dress code, as well as naming his first autobiography The Man in Black.
