Hailing from Los Angeles, alternative folk duo HoneyHoney formed in 2006 after the two lead musicians Benjamin Jaffe and Suzanne Santo met at a costume party a year earlier. Just as their name suggests, HoneyHoney produces sweet melodies that tie in a poppier uptempo sound with a compatible backroad, country atmosphere.
They dip into a wide variety of genres giving them their more alternative and unique tone that does not remain restricted under the constraints of traditional folk. Santo’s velvety voice lathers HoneyHoney’s lyrics in seduction and packs their songs with an intense heat that is subdued by the soulful and harmonious aspect of the supporting instrumentals.
Their third album appropriately named III, is scheduled for release this June, prompting their summer tour that will be reaching San Francisco in July. If you’d like to see these two honeys with supporting Gerry Porter on drums and JP Maramba on the bass, get your tickets for their performance at The Independent that will surely be dripping in sweet musical molasses.
