Italian prog-rock veteran’s Fabio Pignatelli and Agostino Marangolo are at it once again.
Goblin Rebirth is the latest incarnation of the early seventies band, who were known for their horror film soundtrack production. The original band broke up in 1982 and reunited for some time in 2000. In between and after, there have been attempts to recreate the band with interchangeable members and band names.
The band has been working on music for the past five years. Initially as a cover band of original Goblin, and now the release of a debut album of authentic work. The self-titled album is set to be out at the end of the month via Relapse Records, and a single titled “Book of Skulls” was released just this week.
“Book of Skulls” is devoid of vocals, but in its six-minute instrumental course the newest layer on the face of the malleable group have proven that they can also produce a prog-induced and ominous song for their umpteenth comeback that is similar to the synthesized sound they once had.
