WATCH: Blur Release New Video For “Ong Ong”

Blur have had many successes in their almost three-decade lifespan. They can now add creating their own video game characters to the masses.

Their 16-bit video for “Ong Ong,” Blur’s fourth single off their newest album in over a decade, The Magic Whip, conglomerates many known 80’s games such as Pacman, Mario, Sonic and Pinball Madness. Tony Hung, who directed “Ong Ong,” has also directed Blur’s video for “Go Out,” according to Paste Magazine.

In the video, the Pacman-esque protagonist’s, named Mr. OK, goal is to save Ms.OK from the ominous top of the castle across the way. Albeit Mr.Ok’s venture is vibrant and bouncy, to match the song for the video, what he comes to encounter are the obstacles including the members of Blur in their video form; Graham Coxon as a cockroach, Damon Albarn as an ice cream cone, Dave Rowntree as a fly and Alex James as “Mr.Red,” whose name is descriptively correct, but no one is really sure what he’s supposed to be. Fortunately, the Ok’s are reunited in the end.

Will an actual Blur video game come out of this? Guess we’ll have to wait and see.
