Slayer Release New Details On New Album Repentless And Announce Special Edition Box Set

Slayer has revealed new details on their upcoming album, Repentless, including the announcement of special edition box set – Repentless, Metal Eagle Edition. Slayer’s new album is due for release on September 11 and is literally the heaviest release ever.

As Slayer’s 11th studio album, the 12-track Repentless is made of aluminum alloy, measures 15” X 17” X 3” and weighs seven pounds. The limited edition box set will be available exclusively via the Nuclear Blast mail-order online stores. There are only 3,000 copies worldwide so interested fans should order now and can do so here.

This highly-anticipated album includes many awesome new tracks including “Implode,” which was released last year. According to a press release, the group re-recorded the track along with the single “When The Stillness Comes,” to keep fans on their feet for the new album. Repentless was produce by Terry Date and features Slayer members Tom Araya (bass/vocals), Kerry King (guitar), Paul Bostaph (drums) and Gary Holt (guitar).

Also noted is the addition of the unreleased track “Piano Wire,” which was originally written for Slayer’s 2009 album World Painted Blood. The track was written by former deceased Slayer member Jeff Hanneman. According to the Rolling Stone, “[Piano Wire] begins with an eerie guitar line before evolving into a full-on-doom (and classic Slayer) riff onslaught…” King put it this way: “When I hear it, I think ‘Jeff.’ It sounds like a Jeff Hanneman song.”

Slayer member Tom Araya also added his take on the new ablum. “The new album sounds like Slayer,” said Araya. “In the past, our fans have always known what to expect, this time they don’t. But we really like it, and I don’t think the fans are going to be disappointed.”
