Atlanta based metal band Mastodon made a cameo on last Sunday’s episode of the HBO hit show Game Of Thrones.
Band members Brann Dailor, Bill Kelliher, and Brent Hinds portrayed wildlings in the episode that is titled “Hardhome.” The shows creator, Dan Weiss, invited the band exclusively to film on location in scenic Belfast, Northern Ireland. Apparently Dan Weiss and the rest of the staff over at Game Of Thrones are big fans of Mastodon. This connection is definitely there seeing as Mastodon released song “White Walker” that was made for the Game of Thrones mixtape titled, Catch the Throne: The Mixtape vol 2. The Catch the Throne vol 2 mixtape was released on March 17th.
Brann Dailor spoke about the groups experience filming for Game Of Thrones.
“It was such an incredible experience to be on set as extras for our collective favorite show Game Of Thrones and to be wildlings murdered and then brought back to life by White Walkers was beyond amazing. I watched my best friends Brent and Bill, murdered right in front of me as I myself was stabbed in the stomach and had my throat slit multiple times, and I didn’t mind at all. It made me love being in Mastodon even more. We are more than privileged and honored to have been a part of one of the greatest stories ever told on film, and the catering wasn’t bad either.”
Mastodon will be spending the rest of the summer performing at Europe and South America’s major music festivals such as Rock In Rio (Brazil), Reading Festival (United Kingdom), and Summer Breeze festival (Germany). Mastodon will also be sharing the stage with Metallica in Russia for two nights at SKK Arena in St. Petersburg, and Olympsky in Moscow.
