Iconic alternative rock band Sonic Youth were as experimentally compelling on stage as they were in the studio. Now, you can see the band in action during their performance Live at Soundstage on Qello.
Sonic Youth were the cornerstone of alternative sound in the 1980s and 1990s, going on to influence countless indie darlings for years to come. Their mix of rock, noise and experimental punk made took music to an entirely new level. When two of its most notable members, Kim Gordon and Thurston Moore, separated after 27 years of marriage in 2011, the band’s future was completely unknown. According to Kim Gordon’s recent autobiography, Sonic Youth might never reform again.
Relive the band at its peak in this performance at Soundstage, where they blast through six tracks, including what was then a new song “Sympathy for the Strawberry.”
