Fun Fun Fun Fest 2015 Lineup Announced Featuring Jane’s Addiction, Venom and Wu-Tang Clan

UPDATE: Pitchfork reported today that D’Angelo and the Vanguard dropped out of FFF Fest due to illness. Lauryn Hill is set to replace him.

That’s right – this year’s Fun Fun Fun Fest has announced its 10th anniversary lineup, and in a promotional video hosted by Bill Nye the Science Guy, he explains the science behind why it is “the funnest festival on the face of the Earth.”

Regardless of Nye’s scientifically fun reasoning, this year’s lineup will include Jane’s Addiction, Wu-Tang Clan, Venom, D’Angelo and the Vanguard, Future Islands, ScHoolboy Q, CHVRCHES, Toro Y Moi, Chromeo, ODESZA, Grimes, NOFX, ANTEMASQUE and more.

The three-day festival is scheduled for November 6, 7 and 8 in downtown Austin’s Auditorium Shores park.

Fun Fun Fun Fest has established a reputation of being “one of the most relaxed, creative, and pioneering festivals in music today,” according to its website. It also stated that is has a commitment to booking progressive and underground artists.

This year’s festival features special performances from Jane’s Addiction, who will play Ritual de lo habitual to honor the albums 25th anniversary; metal band Venom’s first Texas show; a reunion of DC’s Dag Nasty; and a list of comedians and riders to be announced this summer.

Nye explains that fun can be measured by paying attention to Quantitative Fun Observations or QFOs, which is directly in contrast to Quantitative Bummer Observations (QBOs). According to him, Fun Fun Fun Fest’s QFOs – D’Angelo’s abs, Fun Fun Funnel Cakes, wrestling rings – are the reason it beats out other music festivals, which are filled with QBOS like old guys in crocs, falling asleep at the wheel or floppy hats.

Maybe Bill Nye’s charm has worked it’s magic; if so, three-day passes are currently available for $199, while “Ultimate Smooth Passes” are sold at $450. Single Day Passes go on sale later this summer.
