LISTEN: Florence And The Machine Release New Song “Delilah”

Just four short days ago, Florence And The Machine unveiled a new song called “Delilah.” The song is one of the selected singles that will feature on Florence’s upcoming new album, How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful.

If Florence And The Machine’s “Delilah” is any indicator, the group’s upcoming third release, How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful will be the best yet released by the group. The song contains a powerful beat and features a fantastic array of production techniques that are utilized by none other than Markus Dravs, known more for the records that he produced with Bjork and Arcade Fire. Despite having only released two records in total since their 2009 debut Lungs, the library of work produced by the group has thus far rivaled and even surpassed many of their current-day peers, and looks to continue that reputation with their upcoming new album. The album itself consists of songs that were inspired by the early days of Florence’s life, a period which the artist herself has said was one in which she was “fucking everything up.” The hook to “Delilah” in particular, which sees Florence confess that she never knew she could be a dancer until she met the lady of the song’s title, seems to point to a period in which she was unsure of herself and her abilities as she just started out on her musical quest. Few at this point could ever doubt that the singer and her group are anything short of having that “it factor,” that undefinable quality that can suddenly jettison a group into superstardom.

Florence And The Machine have been hard at work in recent months. Aside from writing and recording new songs for the upcoming record, they have also been performing at a variety of different festivals, such as the KROQ Weenie Roast, and they’re also featured on the bill for this year’s Bestival Toronto. In addition to the single “Delilah,” Florence And The Machine have also released song called “As Far As I Could Get,” which they released on Record Store Day.
