Yes Bassist Chris Squire Has Been Diagnosed With Leukemia

Christopher Russell Edward Squire, more commonly recognized as Chris Squire, has been diagnosed with Acute Erythroid Leukemia (AEL), revealed a press release earlier today. Over the next few months, the musician and founding member of Yes will receive treatment at his hometown of Phoenix.

In spite of the news, Yes will continue with their North American tour over the summer, as well as November’s Cruise To The Edge performances. Former Yes band member Billy Sherwood is set to perform in place of Chris.

“This will be the first time since the band formed in 1968 that Yes will have performed live without me. But the other guys and myself have agreed that Billy Sherwood will do an excellent job of covering my parts and the show as a whole will deliver the same Yes experience that our fans have come to expect over the years,” Chris reassured.
