LISTEN: Ghostface Killah, RZA And Raekwon Release New Song “Return Of The Savage”

Wu-Tang Clan members Ghostface Killah, RZA, and Raekwon link up for a new track titled “Return Of The Savage.” The track is likely to land on Ghostface Killah’s 12 Reasons To Die II LP that is dropping sometime this summer.

The track can simply be described as vintage Wu-Tang. By this point the casual fan of the Wu knows what they are getting themselves into. The track opens with a lone haunting voice. The percussion, and sample play into the typical rugged nature of Wu-Tangs presentation. Ghostface opens with a strong chorus that rides to the beat. After the chorus Raekwon steps in with a verse about seeking vengeance. The chorus loops back around then leads into Ghostface narrating a story about his wife and kids having to deal with gangster Lou DeLuca. RZA then leads the song out with a story that details Ghostface’s upcoming adventure into meeting Lou with Lester Kane linking forces.

As mentioned before the casual Wu-Tang fan knows what they are getting themselves into. In that regard, the song does not disappoint, but a couple listens through is enough. This track “Return Of The Savage” should be landing in a couple places. Not only will it end up on 12 Reasons To Die II but the track will also appear on producer Adrian Younge’s Linear Labs: Los Angeles. Ghostface, and Raekwon will be touring starting in July in celebration of the 20th anniversary of Raekwon’s Only Built For Cuban Linx.

Raekwon is also working on a documentary that chronicles the journey behind the making of his most recent album, Fly International Luxurious Art. The rapper spoke to Rolling Stone about the project.

“I plan to take viewers on a ride through the album from beginning to end. Beyond revealing untold information about the project and how it was created, the film will also bring to life the actual movie that happens within the album.”

Ghostface has also kept busy as of late. Back in December, Ghostface Killah released a song titled, “Love Don’t Live Here No More.” He also put out collaborative effort with Canadian group BADBADNOTGOOD. The result of which yielded songs such as “Ray Gun” featuring rapper/ producer MF Doom.

12 Reasons To Die II will be out in July. If “Return of The Savage” is any indication of things to come, another quality project from a member of Hip-Hops most notorious clan will not disappoint.
