Tame Impala Announce New Album Currents For July 2015 Release

Australian group Tame Impala have announced a new album for worldwide release on July 17. The album, their third studio release, will be entitled Currents.

The album is already available for pre-order. Fans who do pre-order Currents will receive four instant gratification tracks: “Let It Happen” and “Cause I’m A Man,” plus the brand new tracks “Eventually” and “Disciples.” Band leader Kevin Parker wrote, recorded, mixed and produced the album in Australia.

Currents has more of a focus on Parker’s vocals than past albums have, with less reverberation and other production effects. The forthcoming album also shows an evolution in topics and lyricism, with a variety of genre influences, including psychedelic pop, funk and 1980s-style ballads.

Tame Impala played at Coachella Music Festival in Indio, California, this year. They will continue to do the festival circuit in 2015 with appearances at Bunbury Music Festival in Cincinnati, Ohio, and Austin City Limits Festival in Austin, Texas.
