Perfect Pussy’s Meredith Graves Releases New Song “Took The Ghost To The Movies”

Meredith Graves, vocalist of the American bred band, Perfect Pussy, recently dropped her hot new solo track called “Took The Ghost To The Movies”. Pitchfork mentioned the single was apart of six-part split-7″for Devinyl Splits with indie rocker and multi-instrumentalist, Kevin Devine. The hardcore five piece rockstars, Perfect Pussy released their 12″ Vinyl LP last year entitled, Say Yes To Love.

The new hit song begins with a thirty second folk-style acoustic guitar; very expressive and delayed in timing. Split musical characteristics began to form once the elements of the electric guitar riffs becomes the consistent highs of the song. The drum pedal stays at a consistent pattern and the rhythm sets in with the snares. What a way for Graves to jump start her solo career with some intensified hardcore punk rock! In the midst of the high voice instruments, a similar melody to the introduction is played like a periodical hook throughout the song. Vocals are placed right in between the cymbals and the eighth notes; it’s very experimental. She repeats “I belong to.. I belong to..” as the melody and chords move together while lyrics sound lament. Although the lyrics sound vague against the many elements of the music, Meredith Graves has an alluring vocal tone that fits the caliber of the songs content. This song sounds like freedom in a fascinating and morbid immortal state. This song is not for the faint at heart, you have to really close your eyes and feel it; psychedelic. This song has a theatrical and revolting edge which would be perfect for a movie scene. Towards the ending of the song, the elements of the music began to whither away leaving the intense drum knocks.

Meredith Graves curated the Perfect Weekend event for two days alongs Perfect Pussy bandmates in early April as celebration for her new record label, Honor Press. The west coast garage knockers, So Stressed, are the first artists to be signed to Honor Press along with releasing their 12 track studio album The Unlawful Trade Of Greco-Roman Art under the label on May 26.
