Twin Shadow has unleashed a new video for “I’m Ready,” one of the many hit singles off of his latest record release, Eclipse. Shot in stunning black and white, the video is presented not as a traditional music video, but as a trailer for a Hollywood blockbuster.
The city is Los Angeles. The time is either the present, or some time in the future. George Lewis, Jr., otherwise known as Twin Shadow, must do battle with old foes on his way to protecting the city from some imminent doom. That’s the new backdrop for Twin Shadow’s video for “I’m Ready,” anyhow. The video sees Lewis engaged in a battle with some sort of old nemesis, using a sword that’s not unlike the same sword used by Cloud in the legendary Final Fantasy VII video game. Lewis’ sidekick/love interest is a sultry blonde that inspires Lewis to continue to fight against the perils that the city is apparently facing. There’s no clearly defined “larger threat” that’s presented in the video, but the villains that Twin Shadow battles against seem to be a harbinger of greater perils to come. Directed by Lance Drake and shot in black and white, the music video could easily be mistaken for an upcoming Summer blockbuster, perhaps a hint of Twin Shadow’s potential non-musical aspirations.
Twin Shadow just released his heavily-electronic-tinged record, Eclipse, just a few short days ago, and it has been well-received up to this point. Outside of a potential appearance at this year’s MusicfestNW, Twin Shadow has had to put tour plans on hold for a while. A recent tour bus crash injured most of the passengers, and Twin Shadow has elected to put the tour on hold until all the involved parties make a full recovery.
