Blackalicious Announce New Album Imani Vol. 1 For August 2015 Release

Back in Blackalicious: the group has returned from their ten-year hiatus with a new album to be released this fall. The new album is titled Imani Vol. 1 and is the group’s fourth album.

The hip hop duo, made up of rapper Gift of Gab and producer and DJ Chief Xcel, have worked individually in recent years, but have not released an album together since 2005’s The Craft. The group has worked on this album for the past three years and will tour sometime after the release.

Imani Vol. 1, which will be the first in a trilogy, will be released on August 14th. The name “Imani” comes from a Swahili word meaning “faith.” Rolling Stone posted the first track available to stream, “On Fire Tonight.”

Blackalicious hopes fans will support the album by pre-ordering it through PledgeMusic. By pre-ordering a digital or physical copy, you can unlock access to behind-the-scenes material as well as access to featured items. Currently, signed copies of the new album are available, but more exclusive items will be added for pre-order as the count to the new album draws near.

According to a media alert, Lifesavas, Lateef, Lyrics Brown, the Monophonics, Zap Mama, Fantastic Negrito, Bosko, Myron of Myron & E, Imani Coppola and Amde Hamilton all make guest appearances on the album.
