The young British heavy doom-punks Black Moth released their newest video for “Looner,” filled with balloons, gutter-thinking with spiraling imagination and heavy-splitting riffs.
In August of last year, we reported that there was speculation surrounding possible mimics of Black Moth music by the iconic children’s network, Nickelodeon. The neo-psychedelia rockers released their album in September 2014 via Metal Hammer, a popular UK based magazine for some of the top rock’n roll heavy hitters.
The video was directed by British native, Ben Foley, a multi-creative who has an artistic eye for animation and moving images. Foley has worked with some of the industry’s top dynamic rockers such as Radiohead, Elbow and many other game-changing artists. In the beginning of the video, the guitar drives steady as a woman who looks like an unclothed Jessica Rabbit, red hair and all, is crouched down in a table position as she balances an actual glass table and a T.V. on her back. As the camera zooms in on the T.V. there is absolutely no warning, and the energy skyrockets into some authentic heavy metal riffs as the T.V. screen shatters. The video gets literal pairing visuals with words. As the video progresses, balloons began to appear and are formed as morality meets pleasure through a rather unusual sexual act. “Bending over backwards.. balloons on breast.. crack an egg on my breast,” frontwoman and killer vocalist Harriet Bevan takes control expressively through the lyrics as she gives dark seductive stares. Toward the climax of the video, Bevan wears a conductor style hat in a building which resembles a church as she sings, “Looners were meant to fly.. church hall sky.” The dark scenery changes and goes into the pummeling righteous hair blowing jam session as day turns into night and snow flurries take part in the wicked ambiance. At the end of the video you get a full glimpse of the band, more snow flurries, balloons popping and the lady under the table is full of life.
In comparison to Black Moth’s video for “Room 13,” the new video is an alter ego in a vintage time warp verses haunting psychedelic heavy metal.
Black Moth’s video “Looner” is concurrent with the release of an exclusive limited edition clear flexi-disc featuring artwork by the multi-talented vocalist of the rock star band, Harriet Bevan.
