AC/DC drummer Phil Rudd has been experiencing quite a bumpy year since the fall of 2014. Back in November, the New Zealand drummer was charged with plotting murder, although the charges were later dropped.
Now, Consequence of Sound reports that Rudd pleaded guilty for charges of threatening to kill, possession of methamphetamine and possession of cannabis on Tuesday in a New Zealand court. Rudd is looking at serving up to seven years in prison.
This follows his claim in December, where he pleaded not guilty on both counts of threatening to kill and drug possession. A few days later, he was taken into custody for threatening former body guard who would serve as a witness for forthcoming court proceedings. Adding to his bad fortune, his lawyer quit in the months leading up to his court date — which lead to the decision to postpone the date from February 10 to April 21.
Prosecutors claim that back in September 2014, Rudd threatened to kill a former contractor and his 10-year-old daughter during a phone call.
During a police raid on his house to make an arrest in November, Rudd was found in possession of 0.71 grams of methamphetamine and 130 grams of marijuana.
When charges first surfaced against the drummer, AC/DC made the decision to continue their plans with or without Rudd. The band has since brought on Chris Slade as their replacement live drummer. Slade will support the band during the tour supporting their latest album, Rock or Bust.
