Sharon Van Etten Announces New Album I Don’t Want To Let You Down For June 2015 Release

Sharon Van Etten will release a new album titled I Don’t Want To Let You Down. The album will be a five song EP, and will be available on June 9.

She performed the title track “I Don’t Want To Let You Down” on The Ellen DeGeneres Show in January. You can also stream the track on Spotify or on her Soundcloud page. The song begins slow but steady with a guitar and drums duet, but with more and more harmonies added in as the song builds, it quickly becomes robust, full and powerful.

“Tell Me,” was recorded live last December at Gran Teatre Del Liceu in Barcelona. The track differs from the acoustic version of “Tell Me” that appeared on Van Etten’s last album, Tramp, with her four-piece tour band backing it.

The album is currently available for pre-order on Amazon and iTunes, as well as other independent stores. You can also pre-order the EP from her label Jagjaguwar.

Van Etten has yet to slow down, releasing four albums in the last six years, and managing to record this fifth in between tour dates. Collaborators include The War On Drugs’ Adam Granduciel on guitar, Stuart Bogie and Heather Woods Broderick.

She also recently released new music with her group, Sounds of the South. Justin Vernon of Bon Iver, Spacebomb Records founder and musician Matthew E. White, Megafaun and Fight The Big Bull are the other members of the group, who recorded a remake of a folk-gospel song “Trials, Troubles, Tribulations.” The song will open a special MusicNOW 10th anniversary compilation album, which also features Grizzly Bear and Sufjan Stevens.

Van Etten is on tour this spring, beginning next week on April 16th in Liege, Belgium. The tour will stop in Europe, South America and the U.S. and ends on June 26th. The U.S. stops will be the Boston Calling Music Festival on May 22, Sasquatch! Music Festival in Washington on May 25 and Governors Ball Music Festival in New York City on June 6.
